The Story

Al’s Delicious Popcorn has been handmade since 1985. That’s over 36 years of popping experience! The brand has expanded their flavor offerings to feature over 80 flavors in addition to expanding their geographic reach. As part of this expansion, Al’s Delicious Popcorn is now The Official Popcorn of the Cincinnati Reds! And we needed to get the word out about this delicious partnership.

The Challenge

Al’s Delicious Popcorn truly lives up to its name.

Delicious. Distractingly so, in fact.

But, in a crowded snack marketplace, how do we get a handmade family-owned brand to chart higher than national advertisers?

The Strategy… Make 'em sing. 

Popcorn is emotionally connected to entertainment, parties, get-togethers, events, heck, it MAKES the movies. So, what better way to illustrate that connection and to highlight the relationship with the Cincinnati Reds — than a group sing-a-long? How about “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”... only with mouths full of delicious popcorn.

The Results

Utilizing predictive analysis, the final spots charted 7% higher overall based on the national benchmark for CPG package food, 23% higher in engagement, and 18% in authenticity.
